Manama: Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), said Gulf youth play a central role in shaping the future of GCC member states and advancing their national visions, highlighting their contributions to the region's development. Marking Gulf Youth Day, observed annually on June 6, Albudaiwi said the occasion reflects the importance GCC countries place on empowering young people and supporting their participation across various sectors.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Albudaiwi noted that GCC member states, under the guidance of their leaders, have adopted policies, strategies, and initiatives aimed at developing youth capabilities, enhancing their skills, and preparing them to address future challenges and opportunities. He emphasized the significance of these efforts in equipping the youth to effectively contribute to the region's progress.
Albudaiwi also highlighted the GCC General Secretariat's efforts to strengthen cooperation among member states in the youth sector through coordination, exchange of expertise, and programmes that support innovation, entrepreneurship, capacity building, and community participation. He pointed out that these collaborative efforts are vital in ensuring that the youth are well-prepared to lead and innovate.
He said achievements in the youth sector demonstrate the commitment of GCC countries to investing in young people and expanding their role in sustainable development, stressing that youth remain a vital asset in building a prosperous future for the region. The Secretary General reiterated the importance of continued investment and support in youth initiatives to maintain the momentum of development across the Gulf states.
