Kuala Lumpur: Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), engaged with a Chinese trade delegation led by Ren Hongbin, Chairman of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, during the GCC-ASEAN and GCC-ASEAN-China summits in Malaysia. The discussions centered on enhancing the cooperative relations and strategic partnership between the GCC and China, particularly in the economic, commercial, and investment domains.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the meeting emphasized the significance of strengthening ties to serve the mutual interests of both the GCC and China. Albudaiwi highlighted the importance the GCC places on its partnership with China, acknowledging it as a key international partner. He praised the current level of trade and investment cooperation and recognized the role of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade in reinforcing this partnership.
Albudaiwi noted the growing interest of major Chinese companies in investing within GCC countries, attributing it to the region's appealing opportunities, stable economic climate, and supportive infrastructure and legislation. He stated that this engagement reflects international confidence in the Gulf economies and elevates the GCC's status as a strategic economic partner on both regional and global scales.
Ren Hongbin, representing the Chinese delegation, expressed gratitude for the support and attention given to Gulf-Chinese relations. He reiterated China's commitment to deepening cooperation with the GCC in multiple sectors.
