GCC Secretary General and European Parliament Official Discuss Bilateral Relations in Brussels

Brussels: Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), met with Hannah Neumann, Vice-Chair of the Committee on Foreign Affairs in the European Parliament. The meeting focused on strengthening Gulf-European relations and enhancing cooperation to serve shared interests. According to Bahrain News Agency, the discussions included important topics related to Gulf-European bilateral relations, such as the ongoing updates on the exemption of GCC citizens from the European Schengen visa. Albudaiwi expressed appreciation for the positive proposals and support from European Parliament members regarding this issue. The dialogue also covered the outcomes of the first European-Gulf Summit, which took place in Brussels in October 2024. Additionally, plans for the upcoming visit of the Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs in the European Parliament to Riyadh for discussions with Albudaiwi were highlighted. Both parties exchanged perspectives on recent regional and internationa l developments, with a particular focus on the situation in the Gaza Strip. Furthermore, Albudaiwi expressed gratitude for European efforts to alleviate certain sanctions on the Syrian Arab Republic, which is seen as a step towards improving stability and development for the Syrian population.
