GCC Sec Gen Welcomes Congo, Rwanda Peace Agreement

Manama: Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), welcomed the signing of the peace agreement between the Republic of Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo and commended the efforts made by the United States of America and the State of Qatar. He expressed hope that this agreement will help end tensions, meet the peoples' hopes for security and stability, support development in the region, and improve chances for peace locally and globally.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the Secretary General also noted the positive and growing role of the GCC countries in supporting peaceful solutions and promoting security and stability in various regions of the world, emphasising the firm commitment of the Council states to the diplomatic approach and dialogue as essential for addressing international and regional crises and achieving sustainable development.
