Sanaa:The 12th meeting of the GCC Ministerial Committee for Standardization Affairs was chaired by Mr. Abdulla bin Adel Fakhro, Minister of Industry and Commerce, in the Kingdom of Bahrain. Participating in the meeting were H.E. Mr. Jassim Mohammed Albudaiwi, Secretary-General of the GCC, along with heads of delegations and committee members.
Accourding to Ministry of Industry and Commerce - Bahrain, the meeting underscored the significance of continuous collaboration to enhance the GCC standardization system. This effort aligns with the directives of the GCC leaders to bolster economic development, improve the competitiveness of Gulf products, facilitate trade among GCC countries, and ensure consumer protection.
The Minister highlighted the importance of sharing expertise and leveraging past achievements to harmonize regulations and standards. He noted that standardization is crucial for economic integration, trade facilitation, and competitiveness, while also supporting consumer protection, product quality, innovation, and sustainable development.
Furthermore, the Minister emphasized the need to advance the GCC standardization system in response to global economic, technological, and industrial changes. Aligning with international best practices and standards is essential to support the GCC's development and integration objectives.
The meeting addressed various agenda items focused on developing and harmonizing the GCC standardization system to promote economic integration and trade within the GCC region.
