Manama:The 36th Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Justice Ministers meeting was chaired by Bahrain's Minister of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Waqf, Nawaf bin Mohammed Al Maawdah. This event, part of Bahrain's presidency of the 46th GCC session, saw participation from GCC Justice Ministers and Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Thani, Assistant Secretary-General for Legislative and Legal Affairs at the GCC General Secretariat.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Minister Al Maawdah conveyed greetings from His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, expressing their hopes for the meeting's success in fulfilling its objectives and aligning with the aspirations of GCC leaders.
The meeting emphasized the importance of judicial cooperation within the GCC, aiming to enhance coordination and integration in the judicial and legal fields. Minister Al Maawdah highlighted this initiative as a step towards solidifying justice foundations and advancing judicial integration among GCC countries by developing a unified judicial systems framework.
The minister extended gratitude to the GCC General Secretariat, under the leadership of Secretary-General Jasem Mohamed Al Budaiwi, for their exceptional organizational efforts in preparing for the meeting.
Topics addressed during the meeting included initiatives to bolster judicial and legal cooperation, support for digital transformation, and development of judicial procedures to improve service efficiency. The ministers also explored enhancing collaboration among GCC Ministries of Justice and reviewed outcomes and recommendations from the Committee of Directors and Heads of Judicial and Legal Training Centres and Institutes in GCC countries. Additionally, discussions were held on the draft unified rules for combating information technology crimes and the 2026 report from the Committee of Officials of International Cooperation and International Relations Departments at the Ministries of Justice.
