Manama: The Ministerial Council of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) has issued a statement in response to recent Iranian drone and ballistic missile attacks targeting the Kingdom of Bahrain, the State of Kuwait, and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. The statement was released following the 167th Ministerial Council meeting held in Manama, Kingdom of Bahrain.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the GCC Ministerial Council strongly condemned the Iranian attacks, labeling them as blatant aggression against the sovereignty and security of the affected states. The council emphasized that these actions constitute a violation of international law, the United Nations Charter, and principles of good neighborliness.
The council expressed its solidarity and unwavering support for Bahrain, Kuwait, and Jordan. It reiterated that the security of GCC states is indivisible, stating that an attack on one member is considered an attack on all. The statement reassured citizens and residents of the GCC that joint defense capabilities and air defense systems are actively confronting these threats with readiness and efficiency.
The GCC Ministerial Council affirmed the right of its states to defend themselves, both individually and collectively, as per Article 51 of the United Nations Charter. The council held Iran fully responsible for the attacks and their consequences on regional security, international navigation, and energy supplies. It called for an immediate cessation of hostilities and urged the international community and the Security Council to condemn the aggression and hold the perpetrators accountable.
While renewing its commitment to peace and diplomatic solutions, the council questioned the possibility of future relations with Iran amid ongoing aggression, emphasizing that such actions only lead to further isolation. The GCC extended an open invitation for dialogue, urging Iran to choose the path of wisdom and good neighborliness.
