Manama: Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs, held a telephone call with Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The Ministers reviewed the close fraternal relations between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and discussed ways to further enhance bilateral cooperation at all levels.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the conversation also covered the latest regional developments, particularly focusing on Iran's recent attacks against the Kingdom of Bahrain and the State of Kuwait. The discussion highlighted the Iranian attacks targeting the Saudi tanker Wadiyan and the Qatari tanker Al Rakiyat while transiting the Strait of Hormuz.
The foreign ministers emphasized that these attacks are an unacceptable assault on the security and safety of international navigation and global energy supplies. They termed the incidents as a grave violation of international law and United Nations Security Council Resolution 2817. The two sides also exchanged views on strengthening joint Gulf cooperation to preserve security and stability in the region.
