Manama: Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs, held a telephone call with Sergey Lavrov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, during which they discussed regional developments.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the two ministers reviewed the longstanding ties between the Kingdom of Bahrain and Russia, as well as the ongoing efforts to further enhance cooperation across various domains and advance them in a manner that serves the mutual interests of both countries.
The dialogue also covered the latest regional developments and the ongoing war in the region, along with its repercussions on regional security and stability, as well as international peace and security. They further addressed the risks it poses to energy security, food supplies, maritime navigation in the Arabian Gulf, and international trade.
Additionally, they discussed the existing cooperation and coordination between their countries within the United Nations Security Council, in light of Russia's permanent membership and the Kingdom's non-permanent membership for the 2026-2027 term, with regard to regional and international issues under consideration by the Council. They affirmed the importance of ongoing consultations between the two countries in a manner that contributes to enhancing international peace and security.
