Manama: Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs, engaged in a telephone conversation with Paulo Rangel, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Portugal. The dialogue focused on the longstanding friendship between the two nations and explored avenues to enhance cooperation in various domains of mutual interest.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the ministers delved into recent regional developments, particularly Iran's closure of the Strait of Hormuz to international navigation. They discussed the significant implications this closure has on the global economy, international trade, and the supply of energy and food.

Additionally, the conversation included discussions on strengthening cooperation and coordination within international platforms, specifically the United Nations Security Council. This dialogue comes in light of the Kingdom of Bahrain's upcoming non-permanent membership for the 2026-2027 term, highlighting the importance of addressing issues of common interest.
