Jeddah: Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs, participated in the meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) held in Jeddah. The meeting was chaired by Hakan Fidan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Trkiye, and attended by foreign ministers of the member states and Hissein Brahim Taha, Secretary General of the OIC.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Dr. Al Zayani emphasized the meeting's focus on addressing the ongoing humanitarian crisis and the suffering of the Palestinian people in the occupied territories. He highlighted the collective commitment to halt the war in Gaza, reaffirming the Kingdom of Bahrain's steadfast support for the Palestinian cause. This cause remains central to the Islamic nation and is considered vital for peace, security, and sustainable stability in the region. Dr. Al Zayani stressed the necessity of negotiations among all parties to achieve a lasting solution to the Palestinian issue.
Dr. Al Zayani pointed out the severe humanitarian crisis in Gaza, where civilians are deprived of essential resources such as food, water, and medicine. He underscored the shared responsibility to uphold the rights of Gaza's people, advocating for their life, freedom, and dignity.
He further called for unified diplomatic action, urging intensified efforts with the United Nations and Security Council to end the conflict, ensure respect for international humanitarian law, expedite the release of hostages, and facilitate relief efforts. The aim is to promote a just and lasting peace in the region.
In his remarks, Dr. Al Zayani praised the efforts of the ministerial committee from the Joint Arab-Islamic Summit and acknowledged Saudi Arabia's leadership in the international coalition advocating for a two-state solution. He expressed support for the mediation efforts involving Qatar, Egypt, and the United States to secure a permanent ceasefire in Gaza and the release of hostages. Additionally, he endorsed Egyptian initiatives focused on recovery and reconstruction in Gaza.
Dr. Al Zayani concluded by highlighting Bahrain's role as a non-permanent member of the Security Council for 2026-2027, stating that the Kingdom will prioritize the Palestinian cause on the international stage. He reiterated Bahrain's unwavering commitment to supporting the Palestinian people in their pursuit of legitimate rights and the end of occupation.
