Manama: Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs, received Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General of the World Health Organisation (WHO). The meeting was attended by Dr. Jaleela bint Al Sayed Jawad Hassan, Minister of Health; Dr. Lulwa Rashid Showaiter, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health; Ambassador Shaikh Abdullah bin Ali bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Director-General of Bilateral Relations; and Hatem Abdulhameed Hatem, Chief of the Organisations Sector at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Dr. Al Zayani emphasised Bahrain's commitment to enhancing constructive cooperation with WHO to support sustainable development goals. He commended the organisation's efforts to promote global health and safety. He also highlighted Bahrain's health initiative presented at the Arab Summit in May 2024, which focuses on providing healthcare services to those affected by conflicts in the region.
Dr. Ghebreyesus commended Bahrain's efforts in enhancing its healthcare system to provide high-quality medical services to citizens and residents. He also commended Bahrain's initiative at the Arab Summit, recognising its objectives in ensuring healthcare access for those affected by conflicts. He highlighted WHO's continued support for cooperation with Bahrain to achieve the initiative's goals and wished Bahrain further progress and prosperity.
