Manama: Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with Dr. Khaled El-Enany, Director-General of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO), at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly.
According to Bahrain News Agency, The meeting discussed ways to strengthen cooperation between Bahrain and UNESCO within the organisation's mandate and benefit from its expertise in education, culture and science.
The two sides also exchanged views on regional developments and their impact on education, culture, and science, particularly efforts to protect cultural and natural heritage and professionals working in these fields amid destructive conflicts in several countries, and the consequences for archaeological sites and cultural and educational institutions.
Ambassador Saeed Abdulkhaliq Saeed, Chief of Coordination and Follow-up at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, was present.
