Foreign Minister Meets UNESCO Assistant Director General for Education in Paris

Paris: Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs, met in Paris with Stefania Giannini, Assistant Director General for Education at UNESCO, on the sidelines of the joint Arab-Western ministerial meeting on Syria. The meeting was organised by the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the meeting discussed the strong cooperation between Bahrain and UNESCO in education, science, culture, and heritage, as well as enhancing collaboration, coordination, and knowledge exchange.

Dr. Al Zayani briefed Giannini on Bahrain's initiative, adopted at the 33rd Arab Summit in May, to provide education services for those affected by conflicts in the region who have been deprived of formal education due to security and political conditions, displacement, asylum, and migration. The initiative is being implemented in coordination with the Arab League, UNESCO, and Bahrain.

He emphasised the Kingdom's commitment to following up on this humanitarian initiative, which upholds the right to education and knowledge, highlighting UNESCO's expertise and successful contributions in this field.

Both sides also exchanged views on issues of mutual interest.

The meeting was attended by Essam Abdulaziz Al Jassim, Ambassador of Bahrain to France.
