Foreign Minister Marks Bahrain Police Day


Manama: Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Chairman of the National Human Rights Committee, commended the achievements of the Kingdom of Bahrain’s Police in safeguarding national security and supporting the country’s developmental and civilisational accomplishments, under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, and the guidance of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, and Prime Minister.



According to Bahrain News Agency, in a statement marking Bahrain Police Day and the 106th anniversary of its founding, coinciding with the Kingdom’s national celebrations, Dr. Al Zayani extended congratulations to General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Minister of Interior, and all personnel of the Ministry of Interior. He noted that this reflects pride in the longstanding history of Bahrain Police and their devoted sacrifices in protecting lives, property, and the nation’s security and stability.



The Foreign Minister highlighted the key role of the ministry and its security agencies in ensuring safety for citizens, residents, and visitors, and in supporting comprehensive and sustainable development. This includes their work in civil defence, traffic management, securing land, sea, and air borders, advancing digital transformation and cybersecurity, combating crime and terrorism, crisis management, and law enforcement.



He also commended the ministry’s active contributions to implementing the National Human Rights Plan and promoting community partnership under the National Plan to Promote the Spirit of Belonging to the Nation and Reinforce the Values of Nationalism (Bahrainouna). He highlighted that these efforts have contributed to upholding human rights, principles of justice and rule of law, and supported the application of modern criminal justice practices in reform and rehabilitation, in cooperation with the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR), the Ombuds Office, the Prisoners’ and Detainees’ Rights Commission, and the Public Prosecution’s Special Investigation Unit.



Dr. Al Zayani noted Bahrain Police’s achievements in developing security services in line with police conduct codes and international human rights standards, earning international recognition. This includes leadership in implementing the Penal Code and alternative measures, the open prison programme, the Kingdom’s ranking in Tier 1 of the United States Department of State’s Trafficking in Persons Report for eight consecutive years, and first place in the Arab region for the best operational information field cooperation that led to the arrest of drug trafficking networks.



The Foreign Minister emphasised that Bahrain Police Day is a national occasion to reiterate recognition and appreciation for the Ministry of Interior and all its personnel for carrying out their duties with professionalism, integrity, and dedication, thereby contributing to the security and prosperity of the nation. He also honoured the memory of the fallen servicemen who gave their lives in the service of the Kingdom.
