Manama: Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Chairman of the National Human Rights Committee, praised the King Hamad Youth Empowerment Award to Achieve the SDGs as a pioneering global initiative reflecting the humanitarian and diplomatic vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. He noted that the award reinforces the pivotal role of youth as active partners in promoting peace, development, and sustainable global prosperity.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the minister commended the success of the award in its fifth edition, which translates the royal vision into action and implements the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, with the support of His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs and Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports. The initiative aims to empower youth, develop their scientific and knowledge capabilities, and enhance their contributions towards achieving the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals, promoting a fairer, more peaceful, and prosperous world.
The minister expressed pride in the fruitful cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Bahrain’s diplomatic and consular missions abroad, and the Ministry of Youth Affairs in launching this prestigious international award. He highlighted the strategic partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), which has helped position the award as a leading global platform for youth empowerment, supporting innovative projects and constructive developmental and humanitarian initiatives. He also commended the judging committees for upholding the highest standards of transparency, integrity, and credibility, and extended congratulations to winners from individuals and institutions across sisterly and friendly countries.
The minister added that the award reflects the government’s institutional approach to engaging young men and women in sustainable and inclusive development. It also demonstrates Bahrain’s pioneering regional and international role through active partnerships with the United Nations, regional and international organisations, its non-permanent membership of the UN Security Council, and its initiatives and global awards supporting youth and women, advancing humanitarian efforts, promoting coexistence, tolerance, dialogue, education, and digital transformation, contributing to safe, peaceful, and sustainable societies.
Dr. Al Zayani affirmed that, under the leadership of His Majesty the King and the directives of His Royal Highness the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, and with the joint efforts of the Team Bahrain, the Kingdom will continue its pioneering achievements and initiatives to build effective international partnerships for a world characterised by security, peace, justice, and harmonious coexistence, in line with the National Human Rights Plan, Bahrain Economic Vision 2030, and the Sustainable Development Goals.
