Munich: Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs, attended the opening of the 62nd Munich Security Conference, which brought together global leaders, ministers, and security officials.
According to Bahrain News Agency, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz addressed the conference, highlighting that the international order established post-World War II is currently under strain. He emphasized the need for greater European strategic autonomy, especially in defense, which includes increased spending and enhanced joint capabilities.
The three-day conference is focusing on critical global issues, including the war in Ukraine, developments in the Middle East such as the war in Gaza, major power tensions, energy security, cyber security, and artificial intelligence.
Among the attendees were Ahmed Ibrahim Al Qurainees, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the Federal Republic of Germany; Ambassador Saeed Abdul Khaliq, Director of the Coordination and Follow-up Sector; and the accompanying delegation.
