Kuala Lumpur:Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Foreign Minister, officially opened the Kingdom's embassy in Kuala Lumpur under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the opening of the embassy fulfills the vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, following his historic visit to Malaysia in 2017, marking a significant milestone in over five decades of bilateral relations that began in 1974. The embassy aims to serve as a permanent platform for political dialogue and expanded cooperation in trade, investment, and education, while supporting business communities, facilitating consular services, and strengthening ties between the peoples of both nations.
The inauguration coincides with the upcoming 2026 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia and the launch of direct Gulf Air flights between Manama and Kuala Lumpur, enhancing the connectivity and relations between the two countries.
Bahrain, as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council, intends to maintain coordination with Malaysia at the United Nations, the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, and through the GCC-ASEAN partnership, particularly focusing on peace, freedom of navigation, and respect for international law.
Dr. Waleed Khalifa Al Manea, Ambassador to Malaysia, highlighted recent high-level engagements that resulted in seven agreements and memoranda of understanding, further bolstering bilateral cooperation.
