Foreign Minister Hosts Local Newspaper Editors to Celebrate Conclusion of Bahrain’s Presidency of the 33rd Arab Summit

Manama: Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs, welcomed the editors-in-chief of local newspapers to mark the end of Bahrain's presidency of the 33rd Arab Summit, which took place in the Kingdom on May 16, 2024. The meeting underscored the significance of the national media in supporting Bahrain's development and showcasing its achievements under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

According to Bahrain News Agency, Dr. Al Zayani highlighted that the successful presidency of the Summit was a testament to His Majesty's commitment to organizing a constructive and impactful event. The Minister stressed that the Bahrain Summit served as a beacon of peace and solidarity amid regional challenges. During the Summit's opening address, His Majesty focused on the Palestinian issue, advocating for a unified Arab and international stance to address the conflict and establish lasting peace through dialogue and cooperation.

Dr. Al Zayani further explained that His Majesty briefed global leaders on the Summit's outcomes and the humanitarian crisis in Gaza through visits to Russia, China, the United Kingdom, and France, aiming to garner support for a global peace conference dedicated to a comprehensive solution for Palestine.

The Minister also emphasized the international and regional efforts led by His Royal Highness the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, who engaged with heads of government in friendly nations to enhance regional peace and stability. Bahrain's proposals at the Summit, including calls for an international conference on the two-state solution and stronger Arab cooperation in financial technology, were well-received for their practicality.

Dr. Al Zayani mentioned that the Cabinet, led by His Royal Highness the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, had initiated the formation of a national committee to oversee the implementation of Bahrain's initiatives. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will continue to coordinate these efforts as part of advancing the Summit's political outcomes.

Additionally, the Minister outlined Bahrain's upcoming international engagements, such as the GCC-ASEAN Summit and the GCC-ASEAN-China Summit in Malaysia, and the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum in Russia. Bahrain is also preparing for the UN General Assembly vote in June to secure a seat on the Security Council for the 2026-2027 term, focusing on multilateralism, international law, and addressing threats to global peace and security.
