Foreign Minister highlights Bahraini youth’s national achievements, success stories

Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani, Foreign Affairs Minister and National Human Rights Committee Chairman, has lauded Bahraini youth’s achievements, and pivotal role in safeguarding the nation’s security and stability, as well as preserving the kingdom’s cultural and civilisational identity.

He also hailed youth’s effective contributions to the accomplishments of the comprehensive development process, led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and supported by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

Dr. Al-Zayani extended sincere congratulations to Bahraini youth marking the International Youth Day 2023, which is celebrated all over the world on August 12 under the theme “Green Skills for Youth: Towards a Sustainable World”, valuing highly their contributions to the kingdom’s economic and social development process, in addition to their keenness to highlight Bahrain’s status at international gatherings as a role model for developing human resources, respecting human rights, promoting the values of peace and tolerance and supporting sustainable development goals, in their economic, social and environmental dimensions.

He asserted that Bahraini female and male youngsters have achieved success stories in their determination, distinction and keenness to enhance the kingdom’s progress and ensure the sustainability of its democratic and development process, in light of HM the King’s vision, and the government’s policies to place youth empowerment among its priorities and launch programmes that develop their creative abilities, hone their skills and involve them in the decision-making process.

In this regard, he praised the success of the Prime Minister’s Fellowship Programme to help mentor and prepare exceptional young Bahrainis from various government entities for a career in public service leadership, as well as that of the Hope Fund, noting that they are essential for the success of the national youth strategy, the Economic Recovery Programme and the Bahrain Economic Vision 2030.

The minister hailed the innovative efforts and initiatives launched following the directives of His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, HM the King’s Representative for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs, and His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, General Sports Authority Chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee President, with the follow-up of the Youth Affairs Ministry, which consolidated the role of youth in the kingdom’s development process.

He indicated that those initiatives have yielded fruitful results, as reflected in the Youth City 2030, and the “Lamea” programme to develop youth talent, adding that the kingdom has launched local and global awards with civilisational and humanitarian dimensions, citing the “King Hamad Youth Empowerment Award to Achieve SDGs” and the “Nasser Bin Hamad International Youth Creativity Award”.

The Foreign Minister expressed pride in Bahraini youth’s adherence to authentic Bahraini values of loyalty to the nation and its leadership, keenness to promote the values of tolerance, respect for religious and cultural diversity, as well as appreciation of humanitarian work.

He affirmed Bahrain’s keenness to consolidate such lofty values, by enhancing youth’s contributions and protecting their civil, political, economic and cultural rights, in light of the National Plan to Promote the Spirit of Belonging to the Nation and Reinforce the Values of Nationalism (Bahrainouna), supported by General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, the Interior Minister, the initiatives and projects of the National Human Rights Plan (2022-2026), emanating from the National Action Charter, the Constitution and HM the King’s vision in support of youth who are the nation’s real asset.

The minister appreciated the pivotal role played by Bahraini youth working at the Foreign Ministry, the kingdom’s diplomatic and consular missions, as well as regional and international organisations, citing their dedication to undertaking their duties to the fullest, and keenness to consolidate the fundamentals of Bahraini diplomacy calling for peace, tolerance, coexistence among religions and cultures, in addition to international partnership in achieving SDGs. He affirmed the Foreign Ministry’s support for the programmes of the Mohamed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa Academy for Diplomatic Studies aimed at preparing qualified, talented and distinguished youth cadres.

The Foreign Affairs Minister and National Human Rights Committee Chairman affirmed that thanks to HM the King’s sound approach, the policies of the government, led by HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, and the efforts of its creative youth, Bahrain is capable of attaining more accomplishments after its success in defeating the Coronavirus pandemic, and the launch of ambitious initiatives to implement the royal vision regarding the acquisition of knowledge and technologies of future sciences, and the transition towards a digital and green economy, in a way that contributes to supporting developmental and environmental goals and serving humanity.
