Foreign Minister Engages with US Ambassador to Discuss Regional Security

Manama: Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs, received Stephanie Hallett, US Ambassador to Bahrain. The meeting focused on the Bahraini-US relations and the continuous enhancement of bilateral cooperation in multiple areas. Both parties reflected on the outcomes of the recent visit by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio to Bahrain and the GCC-U.S. Ministerial Meeting, stressing its significance in fortifying the strategic partnership and advancing endeavors to maintain regional security and stability.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the discussions also addressed the Iranian attacks against Bahrain over the past two days, which were considered a breach of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding between the United States and Iran. The Memorandum had called for a halt to military operations on all fronts. The meeting further involved an exchange of perspectives on regional and international developments, alongside issues of mutual interest to both nations.

The meeting was attended by Ambassador Saeed Abdulkhaliq Saeed, Chief of the Coordination and Follow-up Sector at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
