Foreign Minister Engages with Russian Ambassador on Regional Security

Manama: Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs, engaged in a meeting with Dr. Alexey Skosyrev, Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the Kingdom of Bahrain. The discussion centered on strengthening bilateral relations and cooperation amidst regional tensions.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the meeting underscored the growing cooperation between Bahrain and Russia, with both parties exploring opportunities to further enhance their bilateral relations in areas of mutual interest. Key topics included regional developments, notably the continued Iranian attacks against Bahrain and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states. The discussion also covered the potential impact of Iran's closure of the Strait of Hormuz on maritime navigation.

Efforts to de-escalate tensions and maintain regional security and stability were prioritized during the meeting. Additionally, the dialogue touched upon cooperation and coordination within the United Nations Security Council, where Bahrain and Russia currently hold memberships.

The meeting was attended by key officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, including Ambassador Shaikh Abdullah bin Ali Al Khalifa, Director General of Bilateral Relations, and Shaikha Al Anood bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Acting Chief of the European Affairs Sector.
