Foreign Minister Engages in Strategic Talks with US Under Secretary of State

Manama: Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs, received Allison Hooker, Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs of the United States of America, during her visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain for political consultations between Bahrain and the US.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the meeting highlighted the longstanding ties and strategic partnership between Bahrain and the US. Discussions focused on enhancing cooperation in areas of mutual interest, under existing agreements such as the Comprehensive Security Integration and Prosperity Agreement (C-SIPA).

Both parties exchanged views on regional and international developments and explored efforts to promote peace and stability in the region. This included initiatives linked to the establishment of the Board of Peace, chaired by US President Donald Trump, aimed at advancing peace and reconstruction in Gaza.

The discussions also touched upon enhancing cooperation and coordination on regional and international issues before the United Nations Security Council. This aligns with Bahrain's membership in the Council for the 2026-2027 term, supporting efforts to maintain international peace and security.

A significant outcome of the meeting was the signing of a framework for cooperation on critical minerals. This agreement aims to enhance global supply security of these key resources, focusing on cooperation in mining, processing, refining, investment, and policy coordination to support transparent and stable supply chains.
