Foreign Minister Engages in Strategic Talks with US Official on Arms Control and Nonproliferation

Washington: Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with Dr. Christopher T. Yeaw, Assistant Secretary for the Bureau of Arms Control and Nonproliferation at the US Department of State. The meeting was attended by Shaikh Abdullah bin Rashid Al Khalifa, Ambassador to the United States of America, and the Minister's accompanying delegation.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the discussions focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation in areas of mutual interest, leveraging the historic friendship and strategic partnership to benefit both countries and their peoples. The dialogue also covered prospects for cooperation in peaceful nuclear energy, in line with the Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in the Field of Peaceful Nuclear Energy signed in Washington in 2025 by the foreign ministers of both nations. The importance of exploring opportunities for bilateral cooperation in advanced technologies across various sectors was also emphasized.

The meeting included an exchange of views on the latest regional and international developments. Efforts to promote peace and stability in the region were discussed, including initiatives related to the establishment of the "Board of Peace", chaired by His Excellency President Donald Trump of the United States of America, to support the implementation of the peace and reconstruction plan in the Gaza Strip.
