Washington: Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with Congressman Joe Wilson, a member of the US House of Representatives and the Armed Services and Foreign Affairs Committees. The meeting was attended by Shaikh Abdullah bin Rashid Al Khalifa, Ambassador to the United States of America, along with the Minister's accompanying delegation.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the discussions highlighted the longstanding ties and comprehensive strategic partnership between the two nations. Both sides explored avenues for enhancing bilateral cooperation in areas of mutual interest, underpinned by existing agreements such as the Free Trade Agreement and the Comprehensive Security Integration and Prosperity Agreement (C-SIPA).
The meeting also provided a platform for exchanging views on the latest regional and international developments. Key topics included the efforts of the US administration, under the leadership of President Donald Trump, to resolve regional conflicts and foster security, peace, and stability. Notably, discussions encompassed the establishment of the "Board of Peace," chaired by President Trump, aimed at supporting peace, reconstruction, and recovery plans in the Gaza Strip. Additionally, initiatives addressing the Iranian nuclear issue through dialogue and diplomatic solutions were deliberated, with an emphasis on preserving regional security and stability.
