Foreign Minister Engages in Key Discussions at Munich Leaders Meeting

Alula: Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs, participated in the Munich Leaders Meeting (MLM), organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in AlUla. The meeting brought together a number of foreign ministers from Arab and foreign countries, as well as experts and specialists in regional and international political affairs.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the conference was inaugurated by Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. He highlighted the current challenging period for the international community, characterized by multiple crises and complex challenges. Prince Faisal emphasized the crucial need for joint cooperation and prudent action in these uncertain times.

The Middle East region, as noted by Prince Faisal, is central to many global challenges but is also well-positioned to engage constructively in addressing pressing issues. He stressed the importance of sustained dialogue and cooperation to tackle complex issues and achieve tangible progress, underscoring the necessity for a genuine commitment to collective action and shared responsibility.

The two-day conference aims to address a wide array of pressing regional and international issues. Topics of discussion include the situation in the Middle East, maritime security in the Red Sea, energy security, the Israeli-Iranian conflict concerning the Iranian nuclear programme, support for and reconstruction of Syria, and efforts to achieve peace in Ukraine. Additionally, challenges related to climate, water, and food security will be explored among other critical topics.

Shaikh Ali bin Abdulrahman bin Ali Al Khalifa, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Saeed Abdulkhaliq Saeed, Director of the Coordination and Follow up Sector at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and members of the minister's delegation also attended the conference.
