Foreign Minister Attends High-Level Ministerial Event on Water Diplomacy

New york: Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs, participated in a high-level ministerial event on water diplomacy organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The event was held in partnership with the foreign ministries of the Kingdom of Spain, the Republic of Tajikistan, the Republic of Finland, and the Republic of Senegal. The conference took place at the United Nations headquarters in New York under the theme "Water Diplomacy: A Bridge for Sustainable Development and Cooperation," on the sidelines of the 80th session of the UN General Assembly.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the conference was opened by His Highness Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia, who emphasized the importance of a shared understanding of the role of water and the need for decisive joint action. His Highness highlighted that water is a crucial element for international security, economic development, and global resilience.

HH Prince Faisal bin Farhan stated that water challenges are worsening worldwide, and with growing scarcity and pressure, international cooperation is essential. He noted that water diplomacy builds trust, transforms necessity into opportunity, and fosters partnerships capable of turning shared challenges into collective progress.

The conference was also attended by Ambassador Jamal Faris Al Ruwaie, Permanent Representative of Bahrain to the UN in New York, along with the Foreign Minister's accompanying delegation.
