New York:Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Bahrain's Minister of Foreign Affairs, participated in a high-level ministerial meeting on climate security. The event, hosted by the United Kingdom, was held behind closed doors on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly, upon the invitation from Ed Miliband, the UK's Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the meeting focused on the implications of climate and environmental risks on international security and stability. Discussions included cross-border challenges such as food and water security, energy security, economic stability, and supply chains. The meeting also explored ways to enhance risk assessment mechanisms, identify shared priorities, and promote collective action in these areas.
Bahrain's involvement underscores its commitment to international efforts addressing climate change impacts and strengthening multilateral cooperation.
