Foreign Minister and UK Secretary Discuss Strait of Hormuz Closure

Manama: Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs, received a telephone call from Yvette Cooper, Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Affairs of the United Kingdom.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the conversation focused on recent regional developments, particularly Iran's closure of the Strait of Hormuz. The closure has significant implications for maritime navigation, international trade, and the global economy. The two officials examined ways to enhance cooperation and coordination as both countries hold membership in the United Nations Security Council.

Efforts to support the implementation of Security Council resolutions related to freedom of maritime navigation in the Strait of Hormuz were also reviewed during the call. Both sides expressed their commitment to ensuring stability and security in the region by maintaining open and secure maritime routes.
