Foreign Minister and his Turkish counterpart agree on the date of the meeting of the Supreme Joint Political and Security Committee


Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Fouad Hussein met with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, on the sidelines of the Peace Summit in Ukraine held in the Burgenstock resort in the Swiss city of Lucerne.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed bilateral relations and ways to enhance them to serve the interests of the two friendly countries.

The talks also touched, according to a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on regional and international issues of common interest, with a focus on security challenges and economic cooperation.

The two sides agreed to hold a meeting of the Permanent Supreme Joint Political and Security Committee in August of this year in Ankara, headed by the two Ministers.

The two sides also agreed to follow up on the outcomes of President Erdogan’s visit to Baghdad, in addition to discussing the development road project and its importance for Iraq and the region. The meeting touched on enhancing cooperation in the fields of energy, trade and investme
nt, in addition to exchanging views on the latest developments in the Middle East region.

The two Ministers stressed the importance of continuing dialogue and coordination between the two countries to confront common challenges and work to achieve stability and prosperity in the region.
