FM meets his Turkish counterpart on the sidelines of the peace summit in Switzerland

Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein met with his Turkish counterpart, Hakan Fidan in the Swiss city of Burgenstock.

The meeting between the two ministers came on the sidelines of their participation in the peace summit on Ukraine, which the Swiss city is hosting over two days.

The peace summit was launched in the Swiss city of Burgenstock yesterday, Saturday, with the participation of more than 100 countries and international organizations.

Summit participants are scheduled to discuss possible ways to involve ‘all parties’ in the future peace process (in Ukraine), as Switzerland has already acknowledged that peace cannot be achieved in the absence of Russia.

The United Nations is also participating in the summit as an observer, but China, which has declared a ‘borderless’ partnership with Russia, did not attend.

Although Russia showed an immediate and clear lack of interest in participating in the conference, it did not receive an official invitation either.

Nuclear safety, food security and humanitarian issu
es, such as the plight of prisoners of war and civilian detainees, will be among the points to be discussed.
