First Deputy Speaker’s Participation in IPU Workshop Highlights Bahrain’s Diplomatic Efforts

Tashkent: Abdulnabi Salman, First Deputy Speaker of the Council of Representatives, participated in a workshop focused on "Parliamentary Diplomacy and Mediation," hosted on the sidelines of the 150th General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) in Uzbekistan.

According to Bahrain News Agency, Salman highlighted Bahrain's diplomatic achievements under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and supported by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. He noted that Bahrain's balanced diplomatic approach has significantly contributed to peace and security on both regional and international levels through its commitment to moderation, openness, respect for sovereignty, and rejection of external interference.

Salman praised the royal directives that support the United Nations' humanitarian, developmental, and environmental goals, pointing out Bahrain's numerous initiatives that reinforce its role in promoting sustainable development. He emphasized the legislative authority's commitment to enhancing international parliamentary cooperation and the importance of parliaments in resolving conflicts peacefully and coordinating efforts to tackle common challenges.

Furthermore, Salman lauded Bahrain's active engagement in regional and international forums, which has bolstered the confidence of parliaments and legislative bodies worldwide. This is evidenced by Bahrain's leadership roles in parliamentary organizations, hosting major conferences, and receiving international recognition and awards that underscore Bahrain's democratic advancements.

He concluded by stating that Bahraini parliamentary diplomacy continues to thrive by building communication bridges and strengthening parliamentary relations with legislatures globally.
