Financial Intelligence National Centre CEO Hosts MENAFATF Chairperson in Bahrain

Manama: Shaikha May bint Mohammed Al Khalifa, CEO of the Financial Intelligence National Centre (FINC) and Chairperson of the anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing policy committee, received Samya Abou Sharif, Chairperson of the Middle East and North Africa Financial Action Task Force (MENAFATF), Hamid Al Zaabi, Vice President, and Suleiman Al Jabreen, Executive Secretary of the group, to mark the 20th anniversary of MENAFATF's establishment in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

According to Bahrain News Agency, Shaikha May bint Mohammed stated that Bahrain's role as host to the MENAFATF Secretariat since its inception underscores the country's unwavering political commitment to fostering regional cooperation. This commitment aligns with Bahrain's vision of enhancing financial security and stability in the region.

Shaikha May also stressed the need to support both regional and international initiatives aimed at combating money laundering and terrorism financing. She praised MENAFATF's pivotal role in encouraging adherence to international standards and enhancing cooperation among member states.

Samya Abou Sharif expressed gratitude to Bahrain for its ongoing support and hospitality in hosting the Financial Action Task Force. She highlighted the importance of maintaining joint coordination to advance regional efforts in combating financial crimes.
