Manama: Yousif Abdulla Al Humood, Undersecretary of Financial Affairs at the Ministry of Finance and National Economy, chaired the 15th meeting of the Senior Officials Committee of the Gulf Cooperation Council Economic and Development Affairs Authority, held via video conference as part of Bahrain's presidency of the 46th session of the GCC. The meeting discussed means to enhance economic and development cooperation among GCC countries.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Al Humood emphasized the significance of the meeting as a preparatory step for the ninth ministerial-level preparatory committee. He highlighted its role in supporting coordination and economic integration among GCC states, expressing appreciation to the State of Kuwait, its leadership, government, and people, for its efforts during the previous presidency, including the preparations made for the current meeting.
Al Humood stressed the importance of continuing Gulf coordination and solidarity at this stage to achieve shared objectives, advance joint GCC action, and contribute to growth and prosperity across GCC countries. He noted that the meeting was being held under exceptional circumstances, following Iranian attacks that affected GCC economies. The negative economic impact had been mitigated through coordination and cooperation among GCC countries.
The meeting also discussed agenda items, including mechanisms to develop joint GCC economic and development work in line with global developments and evolving frameworks for economic cooperation and integration. This included reviewing the annual report of the Economic and Development Affairs Authority and other related topics.
