Finance Ministry Official Leads Bahrain Delegation at Arab League Economic Meeting

Cairo: Yousif Abdullah Al Hummood, Undersecretary for Financial Affairs at the Ministry of Finance and National Economy, led the Kingdom of Bahrain's delegation to the 117th session of the Economic and Social Council of the Arab League at the ministerial level, held at the Arab League's General Secretariat.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the meeting reviewed the Secretary General's report on the implementation of decisions from the Council's 116th session. Discussions also covered preparations for the economic and social file for the 35th Arab League Summit, which is scheduled to be held in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Additionally, developments related to the Greater Arab Free Trade Area and the Arab Customs Union were deliberated.

The Council further addressed priority topics, including support for regional investment frameworks and sustainable development. Discussions also included digital transformation and artificial intelligence initiatives, strengthening the role of small and medium enterprises, and means to support Arab economies. The meeting reviewed reports and outcomes issued by Arab ministerial councils and specialised Arab organisations, focusing on advancing joint Arab economic cooperation.
