Finance Minister Celebrates Arab Monetary Fund’s 50th Anniversary

Abu Dhabi:Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Bahrain's Minister of Finance and National Economy, participated in the Arab Monetary Fund (AMF) Golden Jubilee celebration, commemorating 50 years since its founding. The event was held under the auspices of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, in conjunction with the 17th Ordinary Session of the Council of Arab Finance Ministers.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the celebration was attended by Mohamed bin Hadi Al Hussaini, UAE Minister of State for Financial Affairs; Dr. Fahad bin Mohammed Al Turki, Director General and Chairman of the Board of the Arab Monetary Fund; Khalid Humaidan, Governor of the Central Bank of Bahrain, as well as various ministers, central bank governors, and representatives from Arab and international financial and economic institutions.

Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa emphasized the enduring relationship between Bahrain and the UAE, noting the shared history and close ties supported by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and HH Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. He underscored the significance of building on the existing cooperation, particularly in the financial and economic sectors, to foster development and prosperity in both countries.

The Finance Minister also highlighted the crucial role of financial institutions in driving economic development and fostering a more sustainable and competitive economy. He affirmed Bahrain's continued efforts to enhance cooperation with financial institutions and explore new partnership opportunities to achieve shared objectives.

The minister praised the Arab Monetary Fund's initiatives to support economic and financial development in Arab countries, emphasizing the importance of cooperation among Arab financial and monetary bodies to ensure financial stability and sustainable growth. The celebration showcased the AMF's milestones and achievements, including its contributions to economic and monetary stability, the advancement of financial and banking sectors, and the provision of financial and technical support to member states.
