ESAIC Approves First Bahraini Examiner for Qualification Exam

Manama: The European Society of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care (ESAIC) has approved Dr. Nada Sarwani, Consultant Thoracic Anaesthesia and Advanced Airway Management at the Government Hospitals, as the first examiner from Bahrain for the European Diploma in Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care (EDAIC - Part I). The qualification exam was held at the Government Hospitals on September 12-13 with 70 doctors taking part.

According to Bahrain News Agency, Dr. Mariam Athbi Al Jalahma, CEO of Government Hospitals, emphasized Bahrain's commitment to nurturing national talent and enabling them to compete internationally. She stated that the accreditation of the Kingdom's first official examiner reflects the success of investing in people, strengthening Bahrain's standing on the global healthcare map through closer collaboration with leading international institutions. This supports the continuous improvement of healthcare services and advances the goals of sustainable development.

Dr. Al Jalahma congratulated Dr. Sarwani, describing the achievement as an important step in Bahrain's medical progress. She highlighted that it would help further develop the skills of Bahraini doctors, encourage the exchange of expertise, and foster wider international partnerships in healthcare, aligning with the Kingdom's long-term ambitions.

Dr. Sarwani expressed her pride in receiving the accreditation, noting that it was the result of Bahrain's consistent support for its medical professionals and its confidence in their ability to excel. She added that her appointment as an examiner with ESAIC paves the way for Bahrain to host this international exam for the first time, offering doctors in the Kingdom and the wider region the opportunity to participate locally, and reinforcing Bahrain's role as a regional hub for medical training and development in anaesthesiology and intensive care.
