Environment Minister Highlights Bahrain’s Commitment to Marine Resource Protection on Regional Environment Day

Manama: Dr. Mohamed bin Mubarak Bin Dainah, Minister of Oil and Environment and Special Envoy for Climate Affairs, emphasised the Kingdom of Bahrain's commitment to protecting marine ecosystems on the occasion of Environment Day of the Region, observed annually on April 24.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the minister highlighted Bahrain's efforts to enhance regional and international cooperation to ensure the sustainability of marine environments and to fulfil its national and international environmental obligations. He stated that these efforts align with the Sustainable Development Goals and Bahrain's national action plan to achieve carbon neutrality by 2060.

Dr. Bin Dainah noted that this year's theme, "Navigating Towards Sustainability", draws attention to the environmental challenges facing the seas and oceans. He emphasized that regional and international cooperation is essential to addressing these issues.

He also underscored the importance of promoting responsible environmental practices across all segments of society by raising awareness about the value of marine resources and the need to preserve them. He described the occasion as an opportunity to underline the importance of protecting shared marine resources and ensuring their sustainability for future generations.
