Manama: Dr. Mohamed bin Mubarak Bin Dainah, Minister of Oil and Environment and Special Envoy for Climate Affairs, highlighted that Earth Day, observed annually on April 22, is an opportunity to promote environmental sustainability across all segments of society. He emphasized the importance of fostering environmental awareness to ensure a sustainable future.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Dr. Bin Dainah stated that the Kingdom of Bahrain, under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and with the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, remains committed to fulfilling its national and international obligations in environmental protection and climate action. This commitment aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals and the national plan to achieve carbon neutrality by 2060.
Dr. Bin Dainah also mentioned that the Supreme Council for Environment (SCE), chaired by His Highness Shaikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Personal Representative of HM the King, emphasizes building environmental awareness across all age groups in Bahrain. He noted that environmental education is integrated into national policy through ongoing awareness campaigns, community initiatives, and various training programmes.
He further stressed that global environmental challenges, particularly climate change and biodiversity loss, necessitate a renewed commitment to environmental awareness, starting with families and relevant institutions. Dr. Bin Dainah pointed out that sound environmental knowledge is the foundation for any effective and sustainable transformation.
