Manama: The Ministry of Electricity and Water Affairs held a two-day workshop on green public procurement for government employees, reinforcing Bahrain's commitment to sustainability. Led by Andreas Karner, Partner and Senior Energy Consultant from Austria-based ConPlusUltra, the workshop focused on setting procurement standards to reduce environmental impact and optimise resource use.
According to Bahrain News Agency, sessions covered sustainability criteria, evaluation methods, best practices, and strategies for awarding contracts to eco-friendly suppliers. Government representatives discussed challenges, opportunities, and incentives for sustainable procurement. The workshop is part of the ministry's efforts to support Bahrain's goal of carbon neutrality by 2060.
