Eighth Edition of Nasser bin Hamad Marine Heritage Season Set for Launch

Manama: The Bahrain Inherited Traditional Sports Committee (Mawrooth) is continuing its preparations for the 8th edition of the Nasser bin Hamad Marine Heritage Season, which will kick off on July 25 with the "Mawrooth Swimmer", one of the season's main events.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the open-water swimming race is a key highlight of the season, showcasing Bahrain's rich marine heritage. The event has witnessed growing participation over the years, reflecting strong community engagement and a renewed appreciation for traditional sports.

Ahmed Al Shamlan, Deputy Chairman of the Season, emphasised the event's importance in promoting national identity while providing participants with a unique maritime experience that meets modern standards.

Held under the patronage of His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs, the season will continue through mid-November. It features a diverse lineup of traditional competitions, including rowing, fishing, and the 'Nahham' singing contest, with participation from across the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.

The committee has invited those interested in the "Mawrooth Swimmer" event to register online, highlighting its commitment to safety, high organizational standards, and inclusive participation.
