Cairo: Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi met with Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Antonio Tajani, to discuss cooperation and regional developments.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the discussions focused on implementing the outcomes of the Egyptian Italian Joint Committee. The talks aimed to strengthen ties in various sectors, including trade, investment, energy, education, maritime transport, agriculture, and tourism.
The meeting also addressed efforts to curb irregular migration and reduce tensions in the Middle East. Developments in the Horn of Africa were discussed, highlighting the importance of safeguarding freedom of navigation and security in the Red Sea region.
Additionally, the dialogue touched upon the Nile River, with President El Sisi stressing the critical need to protect Egypt's water and food security. He emphasized adherence to international law and expressed rejection of any unilateral actions affecting the river.
