Egypt signs MoU with French firm on maritime transport

Egypt signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) Friday with the French company (CMA CGM) to boost strategic cooperation in maritime transport, dry ports and logistic areas management.

Egypt’s Transport Minister Kamel Al-Wazir and CEO of CMA CGM Rodolphe Saade signed the MoU through videoconference.

Signing the memo is part of Egypt’s plans aiming to move to an international commercial and logistic hub, and promote cooperation and partnership with specialized global major firms, the ministry quoted Al-Wazir as saying in a statement.

He stressed the importance of this memo, which covers cooperation in multi-purpose terminals, commercial ships, maritime navigation, and the establishment of a dry port and a logistics area linked with seaports by railways.

The memo shows fruitful cooperation with the international private sector, in implementation of the political leadership’s directives, he noted.

Meanwhile, Saade said cooperation with Egypt’s ministry is growing and signing this memo is a strong launch of strategic partnership between the two sides.
