Cairo: Abdel Fattah El Sisi, President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, received a telephone call from Volodymyr Zelenskyy, President of Ukraine, during which they discussed regional developments, particularly efforts to reduce escalation.
According to Bahrain News Agency, President El Sisi reviewed Egypt's efforts to address the ongoing escalation and conflict in the region, stressing the importance of preventing further instability and highlighting the broader economic and trade implications at regional and international levels. He emphasised the need for coordinated regional and international efforts to end the conflict, renewing Egypt's condemnation and rejection of attacks on the sovereignty of Arab states and underlining the importance of respecting their territorial integrity.
Mohamed El Shenawy, official spokesperson for the Egyptian Presidency, said that President Zelenskyy expressed appreciation for Egypt's efforts to support de-escalation and regional stability, and reviewed initiatives aimed at avoiding further escalation in the Middle East. President El Sisi also stressed the importance of adopting peaceful solutions to resolve the crisis, reiterating Egypt's support for efforts to reach a political settlement.
The call also addressed strengthening bilateral relations and cooperation across various sectors, including trade, investment, and food security.
