Cairo: The Arab Republic of Egypt strongly condemned the recent Iranian attacks on the State of Qatar, calling them a blatant violation of Qatari sovereignty and a serious threat to regional stability. The Egyptian government described the actions as a breach of international law and the principles enshrined in the United Nations Charter.
According to Bahrain News Agency, in a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Egypt expressed its full solidarity with Qatar and affirmed its support in the face of these developments.
The statement also expressed Egypt's concern over the rapid and dangerous escalation in the region, emphasising its firm opposition to all forms of military escalation and any actions that undermine national sovereignty. Egypt urged all parties to exercise restraint, avoid further provocation, and commit to an immediate ceasefire in the interest of maintaining regional peace and security.
Egypt further stressed the urgent need for coordinated regional and international efforts to contain rising tensions and prevent the situation from spiralling out of control. It reiterated its call for diplomatic dialogue and peaceful solutions as the only viable path to safeguard the region's security and stability.
