Cairo: Dr. Badr Abdelatty, Egyptian Foreign Minister, received his Bulgarian counterpart, Georgi Georgiev, to discuss ways to strengthen economic and trade cooperation between Egypt and Bulgaria.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the discussions also centered around advancing bilateral relations as both countries prepare to celebrate 100 years of diplomatic ties in 2026. Abdelatty highlighted that the trade volume between Egypt and Bulgaria increased by 50 percent, reaching USD 1.8 billion in 2024. This growth has positioned Egypt as Bulgaria's leading trade partner in the Middle East and Africa.
Abdelatty emphasized the importance of attracting Bulgarian investment and enhancing tourism. He announced that the second session of the joint economic cooperation committee is scheduled to take place in Cairo in 2025, with the higher committee expected to convene in Sofia in 2026.
