Education Minister Opens Arabic Language and Islamic Education Conference at American School


Manama: Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak Juma, Minister of Education, inaugurated the Arabic Language and Islamic Education Conference organized by the American School in the Kingdom of Bahrain. The event gathered educators including Arabic and Islamic education teachers, department heads, educational supervisors, administrators, and invited guests.



According to Bahrain News Agency, in his opening remarks, the Minister emphasized the crucial role of Arabic and Islamic education teachers in reinforcing national identity and instilling authentic values. He acknowledged the dedication of Bahraini teachers in aligning with educational advancements, demonstrated by their creative involvement and openness to global teaching practices and innovative strategies. The Minister underscored the unique aspects of the Arabic language and the ministry’s initiatives to enhance its teaching, concentrating on reading, recitation, and interpretation of the Holy Quran.



Dave McMaster, Director of the American School, praised the Ministry of Education’s support for initiatives that benefit both teachers and students. He highlighted that such conferences offer a critical platform for exchanging expertise and refining teaching strategies to elevate student achievement and academic standards.



Dr. Noor Abu Atiya, Head of Arabic Language and Culture at the American School, noted that participating in the conference enriches the teaching of Arabic and Islamic education by sharing successful practices and through interactive sessions and training workshops that offer innovative practical solutions.



The conference included three panel sessions focusing on the challenges faced by Arabic and Islamic education teachers, the role of educational leaders in supporting language and identity, and innovation in teaching methods. Additionally, specialized training workshops were conducted to enhance the skills and professional capacities of teachers.



The event exemplified the Ministry of Education’s commitment to supporting educational initiatives that promote the teaching of Arabic language and Islamic education, thereby strengthening teachers’ professional competencies to deliver high-quality education.
