Manama: Edamah, the real estate arm of Bahrain Mumtalakat Holding Company (Mumtalakat), announced on the sidelines of Gateway Gulf 2024, that work has begun on the world-class Bahrain Surf Park - Club Hawaii Experience, with project completion due in Q1 2026. The ambitious project is set to transform the tourism landscape in Bahrain by introducing a cutting-edge surfing destination. According to Bahrain News Agency, the project is being developed in partnership with GFH Financial Group (GFH) and marks the introduction of the first Wavegarden Cove Surf Park in the region. Officially named Bahrain Surf Park - Club Hawaii Experience, it will be strategically located at the heart of Bilaj Al Jazayer on Bahrain's southwest coast. The surf park is expected to become a major tourism attraction, drawing visitors from across the region. The park's advanced technology will generate waves of various sizes, shapes, and durations in a controlled environment, making it suitable for surfers of all skill levels. This uniqu e feature is anticipated to attract approximately 250,000 visitors per year, with upwards of 120,000 surf visits annually. In addition to surfing, the site will include a surf academy, food and beverage outlets, a spacious terrace, a retail store, cabanas, events space, and a large private entertainment area catering to corporate or school groups. Shaikh Abdulla bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, CEO of Mumtalakat and Chairman of Edamah, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, "Excitement levels are high now that construction has begun on Bahrain Surf Park, featuring the Wavegarden Cove, which will be a game-changer for tourism in Bahrain. The Wavegarden Cove lagoon is designed to accommodate up to approximately 90 surfers per hour, ca tering to everyone from complete novices to elite surfers. Wavegarden, headquartered in Spain, is renowned for its expertise in dynamic artificial wave technology. The company has spent over a decade in research and development, achieving a series of innovative breakthroughs and patents, making it a market leader in the field.
