Edamah and GFH Commence Construction of Bahrain’s First Surf Park – Club Hawaii Experience

Manama: Edamah, the real estate arm of Bahrain Mumtalakat Holding Company, along with GFH Financial Group, has officially started the construction of the Bahrain Surf Park - Club Hawaii Experience at Bilaj Al Jazayer, located on the southwest coast of the Kingdom of Bahrain.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the groundbreaking ceremony was attended by notable figures including Shaikh Abdulla bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, CEO of Mumtalakat and Chairman of Edamah; Hisham Al Rayes, CEO of GFH Financial Group; Khalid Abdulrahman Al Majed, CEO of Edamah; Christos A. Poullaides, Founder and General Manager of Poullaides Contracting; and Victoria Williams, General Manager of Bahrain Surf Park - Club Hawaii Experience.

Shaikh Abdulla bin Khalifa Al Khalifa emphasized that the Bahrain Surf Park - Club Hawaii Experience is a significant initiative reflecting Bahrain's commitment to investing in innovative developments aimed at enhancing the tourism and entertainment sectors. He highlighted that the project aligns with Edamah's mission to deliver integrated and sustainable communities that improve the quality of life in Bahrain.

Hisham Al Rayes expressed GFH Financial Group's enthusiasm in partnering with Edamah and Poullaides as the main contractor. He noted that the project represents a significant addition to Bahrain's tourism landscape, offering a unique surfing experience that embodies the spirit of Hawaii, known as the birthplace of modern surfing.

Khalid Abdulrahman Al Majed shared pride in the strategic partnership with GFH Financial Group for this unique project. He mentioned that the park will span over 52,000 square meters within the broader 1.5 million-square-meter Bilaj Al Jazayer masterplan, offering a variety of activities and training programmes for both beginners and professionals. The project aims to position Bahrain as a global destination for entertainment and leisure, driving economic growth and creating employment opportunities for national talent.

Bahrain Surf Park - Club Hawaii Experience will be the first surf park in the MENA region to utilize Wavegarden Cove technology from Spain, a revolutionary wave-generating system capable of producing up to 1,000 waves per hour. The facilities will include a world-class wave pool and the Club Hawaii Experience Academy, with comprehensive surfing training programs.

The Surf Park will also feature food and beverage outlets, a spacious terrace, a retail store, cabanas, event space, and a large private entertainment area for groups. The Wavegarden Cove lagoon can accommodate up to 90 surfers per hour, offering a platform for all skill levels. The wave technology employed is the least energy-intensive of its kind, promising social and economic benefits for the local community.
