Dollar Holds Near One Week High as Investors Await Federal Reserve Chair Speech

Manama: The US dollar held near a one week high against major currencies as investors awaited a speech by the US Federal Reserve Chair.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the dollar index, which measures the currency against six major peers, was little changed at 99.13 in early trading. The index has gained 0.3% this week but remains on track for a second consecutive monthly decline.

The euro and pound sterling traded near one week lows against the dollar at $1.1652 and $1.3597, respectively, although both remain on track for a second consecutive monthly gain.

The Japanese yen was little changed at 159.34 per dollar and remains on track for a monthly gain of 1.3%.
